1. Keep in mind that your essay is only a story

Every tale revolves around conflict and change, and the truth is that essays are no exception! The distinction is that the fight is between opposing ideas in an essay, but the shift is in our perception of those ideas.

That implies the best pieces are about surprise: “You probably assume it’s one way, but in reality, it’s the other.” For further information, see tip #3.

What makes you think you’re telling the right story? You should be deserving to figure it out from the prompt.

Any collection of essay questions will include a variety of themes and assignments.

Characters (historical, fictional, or current) face difficult decisions within those issues. It’s your answerability to deal with those options frequently by studying, debating, finding, or characterizing them in great detail.

2. Ask yourself, “How can I have the greatest enjoyment writing this?”

When writing an academic essay, it’s natural to feel unmotivated. I’m a writer, and to be honest, I’m not always inspired to write. However, I have a super-ninja, judo-mind trick that I like to do to keep myself motivated.

Your subconscious mind will immediately devise ways to make the writing process more enjoyable.

The first draft is the finest time to have a good time. As you’re merely brainstorming ideas and exploring different approaches to the topic, the first draft is the ideal place to be creative and even controversial. So here are a few wacky ideas for making your next essay a lot of fun:

  • First, find the topic’s most shocking or outrageous fact and use it as your hook.
  • Look up essential words in the topic using a thesaurus. Then, as you write, go crazy with your vocabulary, incorporating as many keyword synonyms as possible.
  • Assume the role of the devil’s advocate and argue the opposing or immoral side of the argument. Then, as you write, see where the conversation takes you.

3. Are you feeling overburdened? Make five unique sentences

The typical three-point essay consists of only five original sentences, surrounded by supporting paragraphs that support those five sentences. Write five phrases that cover your most important points if you’re feeling stressed.

Here’s an example of how they might appear in this article:

  • Introductory paragraph: While most students believe writing an essay is tedious, it can be a pleasurable experience if approached correctly.
  • Body #1: Because they focus on external benefits, most students believe that writing an essay is tiresome.
  • Body #2: Students should concentrate on internal fulfillment when writing an essay.
  • Body #3: Focusing on internal fulfillment will not only allow students to have more pleasure, but it will also help them create better essays.
  • Concluding: Writing an essay does not have to be done solely to obtain a good mark. It can, instead, be a source of fulfillment.

Now it is simple to fill in the paragraphs for each of your five sentences after you’ve written them.

4. Start with the body, then the introduction, and finally conclusion

As you’re trying to summarise your entire essay before you’ve even written it, introductions are sometimes the most difficult component to write. So instead, write your introduction last and use the body of your document to figure out your essay’s major point.

This is especially vital when writing an essay about a subject you don’t care about. I strongly suggest doing this in classes where you either don’t excel or don’t care. Before writing a compelling introductory paragraph, give yourself plenty of time to create and review your body paragraphs.

Otherwise, your opening may come out as clumsy, wooden, and uninteresting.

5. The finest essays respond to the question “How?”

If you’re having trouble making your point or getting to the required word count, try focusing on the question, “How?”

Consider the following scenario:

  • In The Catcher in The Rye, how did J.D. Salinger express the concept of inauthenticity?
  • After the French Revolution, how did Napoleon re-establish stability in France?
  • How does the data show that girls reign and boys truly drool?

If you concentrate on writing, you’ll never run out of topics to write about.

6. Here are some words and phrases that you should avoid using

  • You are – You’ll note that I use a lot of you’s in this post, which is perfect for a blog post. However, in academic writing, it is preferable to exclude the second person.
  • Clichés
  • Some
  • That
  • Things
  • Verbs that mean “to be” (is, are, was, were, am)

Don’t you have time to edit your work? This is a lightning-fast editing method.

Some lecturers advise against using “I” statements in your writing, although professional, academic papers frequently utilize terms like “I believe” and “in my opinion,” especially in their openings.

7. It’s acceptable to utilize Wikipedia

Wikipedia is ranked as one of the top five websites globally for a reason: it may be a useful research tool. But, on the other hand, most teachers and professors do not regard Wikipedia to be a reliable source for essays.

But don’t dismiss it completely! Here are two ways to include Wikipedia in your essay:

  • Do some preliminary research. If you don’t know enough about your subject, Wikipedia can be a useful tool for swiftly learning everything you need to know.
  • Look for sources. Examine the reference section of your topic’s Wikipedia pages. While you may not cite Wikipedia directly, you may often locate and cite the sources. Links to primary and secondary sources can be found at the bottom of every Wikipedia page under “Further Reading” and “References”.

You Can Have Fun with Essay Writing

The thing about high school and college that I regret the most is that I viewed it as something I had to do rather than something I wanted to accomplish.

The truth is that education is a privilege that many people worldwide do not enjoy.
It’s a gift, not just something that complicates your life. I don’t want you to make the mistake of merely “getting by” in school, dreading summer vacations, and, finally, graduation.

How would your life be different if you relished the opportunity to write an essay? But, on the other hand, what would school be like if you wanted to suffocate it with all the gifts it offers?

So, What I’m advising is don’t miss this opportunity!
